'the fact that ~ = (~이)라는 것은(걸), ~라는 사실은'의 의미로

that 이하에 the fact에 대한 추가 설명이 온다.

 

주로 'the fact, the belief, the news, the rumor, the idea, the conclusion' 등의

추상명사 다음에 이 추상명사에 대한 보충 설명을 위해

'that + 완전한 절'이 오는데, 이 때 that 이하의 문장을 '동격의 that절'이라고 한다.

 

'Given the fact that ~ = ~이라는 사실을 보면, ~이라는 사실을 고려해보면', 

'due to the fact that~ = ~이라는 사실로 인하여' 등의 형태로도 자주 활용된다.
